Shreya Pandey appears at ED office in Sona Pappu case, says visit was voluntary

Shreya Pandey appeared at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office at the CGO Complex in Kolkata on Monday in connection with the ongoing Sona Pappu investigation. According to ED sources, she had been asked to appear for questioning on Tuesday but arrived at the agency's office a day earlier. Investigators stated that her name surfaced during the examination of mobile phones and other digital devices seized during the course of the probe, prompting the agency to seek her appearance.

ED sources said Shreya, daughter of former West Bengal minister Sadhan Pande, came under scrutiny after investigators found references to her in multiple chat conversations recovered from electronic devices linked to the case. Earlier, the agency had questioned Kalyan Shukla, who is described as being close to her. Investigators also stated that documents allegedly related to land fraud were recovered from Shukla's residence during the investigation.

In a social media post, Shreya Pandey stated that she had not received any summons requiring her to appear on Monday and claimed that she visited the ED office voluntarily. She also asserted that she had never ignored any summons issued by the agency. Shreya further stated that she does not personally know Biswajit Poddar, also known as Sona Pappu. She acknowledged attending Kali Puja celebrations at the residence of businessman Joy Kamdar on three occasions and said political figures from different parties were present at those gatherings.

The Sona Pappu case came into focus following a dispute at Rabindra Sarobar in February. In April, the ED conducted searches at the residences of Biswajit Poddar and businessman Joy Kamdar, during which investigators reportedly seized cash, a luxury vehicle, and property-related documents. Sona Pappu later appeared before the ED on May 18 and was subsequently arrested. Agency officials stated that multiple FIRs had been registered against him, including allegations of extortion, intimidation, and other criminal activities. Investigators said Shreya Pandey's name emerged during the course of that ongoing probe.
